Love
Love. Do you know what love is?
It’s the thousand promises of lovers past, a story we tell each other over and over, until we forget that it’s a fantasy. But what do we have left, once we abandon the illusion?
Chaos. A gaping void waiting to consume us all.
But chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but they refuse. They cling to the past, or their pride, or their fears. Illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.
And love? Love is the mirage at the top,
beautiful, distant, always just out of reach. Some chase it, believing it will make the climb worth it. Others see through it and keep climbing, knowing that in the end, only the struggle remains.
